The Time Tunnel
Chapter One
When Jack Liverpool went to school that first Monday morning in September, the birds were alive and singing, the buds were blooming into a million colours on the trees, and the sun was high in the sky. Everything seemed completely normal.
But it wasn’t.
“It’ll be alright, you’ll see,” Jack’s Mum said reassuringly, seeing his dour look and ruffling his thick blonde hair quickly. She was well aware that he was probably more than a little nervous, after all, this was his first day back at school after the long hot summer holiday. “C’mon,” she smiled, pulling into the kerb. “You’ll see more friends than DNA strands before play time. I bet you two War Hammer figures and a knickerbocker glory on it, at that little Italian ice-cream shop you like.”
“Oh, I’ll be alright, Mum,” he went, kissing her cheek. “Good luck in your new job. I hope you like it!”
“Official Photographer, eh? Your Mum!?” she cooed playfully and, as he closed the door of the Citroen, she swung into a gap in the traffic and left Jack to his own adventures.
